The Academy's Return To Play Plan / New Protocols - July 1, 2020

The academy has established the following Return to Play Plan. We understand that several of the guidelines may be difficult as players enjoy interacting with their teammates. However, we need to be diligent at enforcing these protocols for the health and safety of everyone. Implementing these protocols will require a collaborative relationship between the coach, parent, and player. While the academy and coach must create a safe environment, the parent must make the decision for their child to return to play. If, as a parent you are not comfortable in your child returning to play - DON'T. And finally, our players must be responsible to adhere to guidelines that have been established.

General Protocols:

  • Upon entry to the training ground, players will be temperature checked whilst wearing their mask. No player can enter the field unless they have had their temperature taken.
  • Each player must have personal hand sanitizer, and coaches will ensure that each player applies before entering the field.
  • Coaches will be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of the session.
  • Parents at the facility must observe social distancing, and no parent is permitted onto the field. Parents can of-course utilize the walking track to observe their player in training.
  • Players will no longer congregate in the vicinity where bags and water were previously placed.
  • All player’s personal items (water, hand sanitizers, mask etc), must be carried in a small bag that prominently displays their name. These bags will be placed on the far side of the field in a designated area that will be adequately spaced, (one metre apart).
  • At the end of training, players will put on their mask and will make their way directly to their awaiting parents. In the event that a parent has not yet arrived, those players will observe proper social distancing protocols while they wait.

Roles and Responsibilities for each include:

As Coaches we will:

  • Inquire how our players are feeling - If they are not feeling well, send them home.
  • Ensure all players have their own individual equipment (water, boots, shin guards, etc.).
  • Ensure that equipment is disinfected after each use.
  • Sanitize hands frequently before, during and after training.
  • Respect players, parents, and families by accommodating those that may not yet be comfortable with returning.

As Parents:

  • If you are not comfortable with returning to play, DON'T - You are the only one who will make the decision when your child returns to play.
  • Ensure all equipment (boots, water bottles, shin guards, etc.) are sanitized before and after every training.
  • Notify coach immediately if your child becomes ill.
  • Supply your child with individual hand sanitizer.
  • Adhere to social distancing requirements.
  • Ensure your child has plenty of water.

As Players:

  • Adhere to all Return to Play protocols.
  • Sanitize hands thoroughly before and after training.
  • Wash and sanitize training equipment (shoes, shin guards, clothing) after every training session.
  • Do not share water, food or equipment.
  • Respect and practice social distancing.
  • No high 5s, handshakes, knuckles or group celebrations.

The continued heath and safety of each player remains our top priority. Accordingly, the academy will be extremely diligent as it relates to the implementation of our new protocols / guidelines.
