The Academy coaches would like to congratulate both Rajir Soogrim and Dantaye Gilbert on being selected as the Academy's Players Of The Month for February, 2015. Both players exhibited leadership, tenacity and commitment in games played against Cox Coaching School and Queens Park. Rajir continues to make wonderful progress in training and he has shown the aptitude to continue learning. Dantaye continues to be an outstanding talent and is rapidly developing into a player that will play at the very highest level of the game. The Academy coaches would also like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of Daniel Quashie for the month of February. Daniel is quietly developing into an excellent player and continues to show great commitment in training. Congratulations to all players.
Academy coach Anthony Sherwood had the opportunity to sit down with National U17 head coach Shawn Cooper. In the interview coach Cooper talks about the various challenges that national youth coaches are encountering with players seeking selection to the national team. He identifies the lack of proper fundamentals as being a major problem for most of the players selected to the National U17 team. As an Academy it our goal to ensure that we address these problems beginning with our youngest players. The Academy interview series is a major part of the player education aspect of our approach to player development. The concept is that if our players aspire to play with the national team in the future, then it is important that both Academy coaches and players know what is required to gain selection to these teams. The Academy would like to thank coach Cooper for his time and insight.

The Academy vs Petrotrin Fyzabad United FC
On Saturday September 28, 2014 the Academy hosted it's very first home games in Gulf View. We would like to thank Petrotrin Fyzabad United FC for making this occasion a special event for our players. We would also like to convey a special thank you to the many parents who provided the players with additional refreshments. The Academy coaches are very proud of our teams who performed at an extremely high level. Our players have truly embraced the Academy’s football philosophy which revolves around great passing, endless movement, positive communciation, and tremendous work ethic. Congratulation to everyone on a wonderful day of football.
The Academy coaches would like to congratulate both Lance Pollonais and Johann Wong Doo who have been selected as the Academy's Most Improved Players for last season. Both players worked extremely hard in training and made immense progress. Congratulations Lance and Johann.
Academy coach Anthony Sherwood was invited by former teammate and Naparima College's head coach Angus Eve for a brief chat. In the interview, coach Eve spoke about Naps football, its rivalry with Presentation College, the new format of the College’s Premier league, youth development, and a few other topics. With quite a few players in the Academy attending Naparima College, we thought that it would be important for those players to hear what characteristics are required to play for coach Angus Eve. Coach Eve is a former National footballer who has represented Trinidad and Tobago more than other player in our history, and is also a former National U23 Head Coach.

Academy Season 2014 Begins
Anthony Sherwood
Academy Coach
The Academy coaches would like to congratulate both our U10 and under U13 players who participated in their very first matches on Sunday October 27, 2013. Both teams exhibited a valiant effort, and at times, played a very good brand of football. Our U10 Academy players won their game 7-1 and despite a very good effort, the U13 Academy players lost 2-0 despite being short by two players. The Waterloo Institute of Soccer is considered to be one of the strongest football organizations in the country and we are extremely proud of the effort which was put forward by our players. The following video captures a few moments of the U10s build-up to kick off that morning.
Details regarding the games on Sunday:

Under 13 age group: 11:00 a.m. (selected players should arrive at 10:15 a.m. ready for warm ups)
All players MUST be on time.
ALL players are required to wear black socks and black shorts. We will be providing players with game shirts.
Security at the gates entering the Camp have been notified, please indicate that you are attending the exhibition football match.
We have recently updated the "about us" section of our website that lists a few changes regarding the terms of the players' continued involvement in the Academy. Additionally, we also plan to introduce a "code of conduct" which will be posted on our website that all of our players will need to become familiar with. During the last season, we have had the pleasure of working with an exceptional group of players who have all conducted themselves wonderfully. It is indeed very reassuring to know that our players are so well behaved.
Lastly, please continue to check the website for all updates pertaining to schedule changes and news relating to our players.
Parents, as you all know - our current training season will be coming to an end tomorrow, Wednesday 31 July 2013. While we anticipate most of our players being away on vacation during the summer vacation, we will be having "open playing days" during the month of August for any of our players who may be around. These playing days will consist of informal small side games that anyone can participate in. There are NO fees involved and the sessions are strictly optional - academy players will not be at any disadvantage in the event that they are away or are involved in other activities. These sessions will be held on 12, 14, 19 and 21 August 2013 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.Our next training season begins in the first week of September 2013 and we will provide you with the training days and times in the near future. If you have any scheduling preferences or concerns regarding the upcoming season then please let us know. As always, I would like to thank you all for your continued support of the academy. Our number one goal is to ensure that our players are getting better and that the academy provides a progressive and challenging environment for our players. I encourage you to provide any feed back that you may have. Also, please continue to check the academy's website for all future developments. Thank you!
